Nurse Clinician - Emergency
Temporary Full-Time (approximately 1 year)

Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer, the Nurse Clinician is responsible for role modelling, clinical coaching, mentoring, competency-based orientation planning and the provision of educational activities to enhance knowledge transfer and staff development. This role is responsible to support student placements and the preceptor program to ensure competent, safe practice built on evidence informed data while supporting professional development of the interdisciplinary team.
The Nurse Clinician demonstrates leadership through promotion of effective change management strategies and quality improvement initiatives through collaboration with Clinical Leaders, Organizational Development & Learning, Nursing Practice Council and staff. This role supports staff to identify learning needs and facilitate Corporate and unit based learning experiences while aligning with the corporate mission, vision, core behaviours and priorities.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:Required:
- Graduate Degree in Nursing or related Education/Health Sciences/Administration preferred
- BScN required
- Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Competence as an RN from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Membership in professional associations such as RNAO, CINA, ENAO, CACCN, ORNAC
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Specialty Certification where available
- A minimum of five (5) years recent clinical related experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Principles of Adult Education
- Relevant experience in providing clinical teaching and implementing evidence informed practice
- Ability to use related information systems
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative practice model with a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability in change management and quality improvement practices
- Ability to assume a leadership role in promoting a shared responsibility for professional development
- Proven assessment and evaluation skills
- Proven excellent attendance and satisfactory performance records
- Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS Core Values
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
