Manager EDS & Medical Imaging

The Manager of Electro Diagnostic Services Department and Medical Imaging - Divisions of Nuclear Medicine, Cardiology and Neurophysiology, Radiology (Rural Hospitals) and Ultrasound, reports to the Director of Medical Imaging and Electro Diagnostic Services Department.  With large reporting groups and complex clinical programs and areas to oversee, this role works in collaboration with the Director, and as an integral member of the GBHS Medical Imaging Team.  The Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation and management of the Cardiology and Neurophysiology services (ECHO, ECG, Arrhythmia [Pacemaker insertion and follow-up Clinic] and EEG) as well as Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and Radiology (Rural Hospitals), and serves as a primary contact for each of these departments.  The Manager, in consultation with the Director, is responsible for maintaining clinical standards and fiscal resources, and planning for future services/applications, including but not limited to, major equipment acquisitions.  The Manager ensures the development of specific goals, objectives and service protocol in keeping with the mission, goals, strategic plan, policies, management philosophy and practices within GBHS.  The Manager monitors and maintains the quality of work life in the departments by facilitating the development of a supportive environment (i.e. direct participation in team discussions, being available to assist staff, patients and families), and actively participates as a multi-disciplinary team member across the corporation, including all accreditation processes.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:


  • University degree in one of the following disciplines: Radiology; Ultrasound; Cardiology; MRI or Nuclear Medicine; or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years clinical experience as a Registered Technologist in the following disciplines: Radiology; Ultrasound; Cardiology; MRI or Nuclear Medicine.

  • Recent management experience preferably in a unionized, multi-site environment.

  • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team in a healthcare environment.

  • Knowledge of computers, including Hospital Information System, MS Office and PACS.

  • Good knowledge of working in a Union environment.

  • Experience in change management and ability to lead through transition.

  • Effective problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage time and resources.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and staff development skills.

  • Commitment to continuing professional development and continuing education.

  • Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, physicians, clinical staff, support staff and senior management.

  • Available for regular assignment of Hospital Administrator on-call responsibilities (assigned on a rotating basis to cover evenings and weekends).

  • Recent satisfactory attendance and performance records

  • Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)

  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
