Medical Affairs Coordinator

Owen Sound

Reporting to the Director, Medical Affairs, the Medical Affairs Coordinator provides administrative support to the Medical Staff of GBHS.  This position coordinates Medical Staff Credentialing, Medical Education, Physician Recruitment and provides administrative support to the Department Chiefs and the Medical Staff Association.  The Medical Affairs Coordinator plans, coordinates and facilities all medical student and resident rotations for the Corporation.  The Coordinator also facilitates all applications for hospital privileges.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:


  • Diploma in Health Administration or Health Sciences

  • Two years’ experience with increasing responsibilities in healthcare administration, human resources or a related field

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet based applications (to be tested)

  • Superior skills in minute taking and written and verbal communication

  • Valid (class G) driver’s license, ability to travel, reliable and insurable vehicle

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under time constraints

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships, both external and internal

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people with varied cultural and ethnic background

  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality, act with discretion

  • Proven skills to successfully communicate with all levels of staff and various clients and stakeholders including written, interpersonal, organizational, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, within the context of normal full-time hours

  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records

  • Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)

  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes


  • Undergrad Degree in a Clinical, Medical or Health related field

  • Work experience in a Health Care environment with Physician interaction
