Nurse Practitioner - REPOSTED

Full-Time, Temporary (Approx. 12 months)
Owen Sound

Reporting to the Director, Mental Health, the Nurse Practitioner provides primary care, consultative services and care planning for patients with a mental health diagnosis. Through clinical consultation, staff education and research, the NP will promote best practices in mental health care for inpatients and outpatients. The NP will demonstrate leadership in evidence based practice, participate in quality improvement and act as a mentor to nurses and other inter-professional colleagues.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required:

  • Current Certificate of Competence in the Province of Ontario, with certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class
  • Membership in the Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and implementation of evidence-based practice
  • Superior interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office & electronic medical records
  • A strong desire and capacity to promote professional practice and excellence
  • Ability to work all shifts as required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
  • Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • 3 – 5 years of current expertise in the care of the adult population experiencing mental health issues
