Art Project – Momentos

  What is your CANADIAN MOMENT?

The call to artists to submit work for Momentos, the GBHS juried art show, ended on September 30, and we received an overwhelming response! We would like to thank all the artists for their enthusiastic participation, beautiful art and wonderful stories. You have made GBHS's first juried show an incredible success!

Due to the large number of outstanding works received, we decided to double the number of selected works. Indeed, we initially planned to select 25 pieces, and given the volume of works submitted, we have increased that number to 50.

Our jury was hard at work yesterday with a terribly difficult task! Even though their mandate was now to select 50 pieces, the artwork submitted was all so stunning that it was hard to make these choices. We were very fortunate to have a stellar team of art professionals volunteer to be on the jury. Our remarkable jurors were:

Ron de Boer, Owner & Curator of Gallery de Boer – Fine Art

Leigh Greaves, Board Chair of the Harmony Center

Heather McLeese, Curator of Temporary Exhibitions - Tom Thompson Gallery

After much deliberation, the jurors came to an agreement. Winners will be notified by October 13. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to those who spent so much time and effort working on their art for the Momentos project! We are truly grateful to all our local artists, employees, patients and students for sharing their talent so generously.

Please stay tuned as the winners will be announced at the Opening Event this Fall, and all will be welcome to attend. The stunning artwork will adorn our hallways at all six hospitals for one year, and will make a significant contribution to creating a healing environment for patients, visitors and staff.
