Financial Update
The provincial government announced a new funding formula for hospitals as part of their 2012 budget announcement
Under the new formula, a portion of hospital funding is based on health care needs of particular communities and the volume and complexity of the care each hospital provides
In addition, hospitals will receive a portion of funding based on fixed prices for specific procedures such as hip and knee replacement surgery
More fixed prices for specific procedures will be added over the next two years
The majority of Ontario hospitals are expected to receive a range of -1 to +1% increases with the application of the new funding formula
GBHS has received a planning target from the South West Local Health Integration Network which is in the positive range but this number has not yet been confirmed
