Nuclear Medicine

A Nuclear Medicine examination consists of an injection of a radioactive drug which is taken up by specific organs within the body. Images are obtained using a Gamma Camera that detects the distribution of radioactivity within the body. The Gamma Camera therefore detects the radioactivity that is emitted by the patient following the injection.
