Inpatient Medical Care (Acute Care)
Patients requiring admission to an acute hospital for primary level care can be admitted to all of the rural hospitals including Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton as well as the Owen Sound hospital.
Common reasons for patients to be admitted are pneumonia, heart disease, stroke, or to convalesce close to home following extensive surgery or treatment in a distant city.
Care on inpatient units is provided by nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, dietitians, and family physicians.
