Reporting to the Manager Application Services, the Application Analyst is responsible for providing product expertise needed for successful management of the application(s) within their portfolio. Key responsibilities include system analysis, systems maintenance, and ongoing production support of computer applications throughout GBIN.  The Application Analyst works in close collaboration with fellow Information Management Technology staff members and GBIN clinical users in order to ensure that electronic system(s) meet user needs. The Application Analyst will remain current with the application functionality, and is responsible for communicating any relevant information to the ‘supported department(s)’, prioritizing and implementing the desired modules/functionality.  This position is initially targeted to work the Enterprise Scheduling Management (ESM) portfolio with the understanding that the Application Analyst is a member of the Applications team and as such may be assigned to another portfolio as needed.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

  • 2 or 3 Year degree or diploma in a related discipline, or member of a Regulated Health Profession
  • Recent ESM (Scheduling) super-user and/or trainer experience in an end-user department
  • Cerner Millennium Specialist Certificate(s) – relevant to the application(s) being supported
  • Certified in Cerner Architectural Troubleshooting and Issue Management course
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in application support – Cerner or equivalent application
  • Current or recent experience as a member of an end-user department
  • Successful completion of Cerner, Scheduling and any pre-requisite Cerner courses. (to be provided)
  • Solid understanding of policies and processes in the user department(s) for which the application(s) is being supported
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexity and integration between Cerner application modules
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology (to be tested)
  • Proven self-starter with sound judgment and decision making ability with evidence of innovative, critical and logical thinking
  • Meticulous planning and successful completion and support of highly complex projects including design, written change control processes, test scripts and implementation of change
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple conflicting demands
  • Diplomacy, tact and ability to negotiate deliverables with user community and colleagues
  • Advocate for change to an electronic environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of health service integration
  • Demonstrated customer service and responsiveness required
  • Availability for overtime and flexibility in hours of work – some weekend work required
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and use of vehicle to support travel
  • Ability to travel off-site and internationally
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
