WAGE RATE: $35.42 – $45.13

The BSW/MHC-B will be part of Addiction Treatment Services and assigned to work as the BSW/MHC-B in the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic (RAAM).Following the principals of the recovery model, this position will provide high quality assessments, counselling, treatment planning and referrals to appropriate services within Addiction Treatment Services, Brightshores Health System and the community to clients referred to or accessing the RAAM Clinic. The incumbent will be working closely with the ATS teams who provide treatment, rehabilitative and support services to clients in order to achieve their goals. This position is targeted to work in the RAAM Clinic at Saugeen First Nations and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, with the understanding that the BSW/MHC-B is a member of the Mental Health and Addiction Services and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

BSW:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)

MHC-B:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related health or Social Science field
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)

Both:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related health or social services field
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service workers or the College of Psychotherapists.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in Addiction Services, Crisis Intervention/emergency psychiatry and working with community agencies
  • Familiarity with principles and practice of intensive case management, rehabilitation and the recovery model for persons with serious mental and addiction illness
  • Psycho/Social, mental status and addiction assessment skills
  • Ability to provide a wide range of counselling, support, advocacy and education services to family members and others of significance in the patient’s life
  • Ability to communicate positively and professionally with family members, community providers and physicians
  • Preferred experience working with DATIS and Motivational Interviewing
  • Traveling required – Possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and personal vehicle, may have to transport clients on occasion (2 million liability insurance required)
  • Ability to work closely as a member of a team and share responsibilities
  • Knowledge of substance abuse, withdrawal and treatment strategies
  • Excellent organizational skills and scheduling abilities
  • Ability to co-ordinate multiple departmental interests to provide quality patient care
  • Ability to problem solve and make effective decisions during highly stressful and potentially violent emergency situations
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and integrate them into practice
  • Ability to work all shifts, including weekends; ability for multi-site coverage when required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records

Preferred

  • CPR & CPI Certification
  • GAIN Q3 and/or ADAT certification an asset
