The POCT and Quality Charge Technologist provides leadership in the planning and integration of the Quality Management System and will have oversight of the Point of Care Testing program for all sites. Responsibilities include implementation and maintenance of lab quality management systems and the POCT Program, and activities related to the quality requirements of the Accreditation Canada Diagnostics (ACD) process.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:


  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Degree or College Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology, ART or BSc preferred
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • CSMLS Certification
  • Minimum 6 year relevant laboratory experience in a hospital setting
  • Advanced Point of Care Testing Knowledge and Experience Required
  • Working knowledge of: ACD Standards, Public Hospitals Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, GBHS Policies and Procedures, CMLTO Scope of Practice, Occupational Health and Safety,
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time and resources
  • Effective communication (both written and oral), problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with others within and outside of the organization (i.e. ACD/QMPLS, staff physicians, patients, suppliers, Ministry of Health)
  • Practicing knowledge of computer functions including; LIS applications, document management software and Microsoft office
  • Knowledge of current laboratory equipment
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning
  • Ability to travel between sites
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
