Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice, the Physiotherapist assesses patients, and plans and carries out individually designed treatment programs to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical deconditioning in patients. The initial work assignment is on Surgery in Owen Sound, but the incumbent may also be asked to assist with covering assignments that are open due to weekend coverage, sick time and fluctuations of workload. This position is expected to participate in weekend shift coverage and late shift coverage for same day joint surgeries on a rotational basis.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Current Independent Practice Certificate and registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Excellent professional judgment, conflict resolution and interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, team members, students and community partners
  • Competence in the practice of evidence-based Physiotherapy and inter professional care, with experience in the application of practice models and outcome measures
  • Experience with adult surgical and medical populations and ICU
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing Teach Back and other Principles of Adult Learning
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, analytical thinking and initiative
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Available for a 7-day rotation and ability to provide multi-site coverage as required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
