Reporting to the Manager, Perioperative and Ambulatory Services and MDRD, the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room assesses perioperative patient needs, performs activities that demonstrate nursing accountability; safely and adequately provides and utilizes equipment and supplies based on need and evaluates patient outcomes.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario registration or eligibility
• Successful completion of the Operating Room certificate and/or at least two years OR experience in the last three years
• Ability to scrub and circulate in all services
• Knowledge of the current ORNAC standards
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment
• Ability to function as a team member
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to flex time to meet unit’s needs
• Proven verbal and written, including electronic, communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, decision making and organizational skills
• Ability to respond to urgent/emergency situations
• Must be willing to take call and be available to reach the hospital within 20 minutes
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
