Charge Registered Technologist - Cardiology

Full-Time
Owen Sound

Reporting to the Manager of Medical Imaging and Cardiology, the Charge Technologist performs a range of tests and procedures within the Cardiology department as required.  The Charge Technologist is responsible for coordinating day to day activities within Cardiology.  This technologist is responsible for staff scheduling, daily staffing assignments, maintaining equipment and ensuring that all work of assigned staff meets the accuracy and reliability standards/requirements.  The Charge Technologist works closely with the Senior Technologist – Clinical Coordinator and acts as an alternate when necessary. The Charge Technologist also helps to develop protocols for new or revised policies and procedures. The Charge Technologist is also expected to actively participate in the Medical Imaging/Cardiology Leadership Team and collaborate with their peers to produce a corporate standard for all functions and accreditation activities.  The Charge Technologist responsibilities include maintenance of accurate and detailed records (including QC logs, service reports, etc.) and ensuring equipment is in optimal working condition for high quality standard results and to meet the regulated requirements according to Ministry and vendor specifications.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required:

  • Registered Cardiovascular Technologist or Registered Cardiac Diagnostic Sonographer

  • Maintain Continuing Education Credits (30 per triennium/discipline)

  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of Cardiology procedures within Cardiology

  • Able to develop, maintain and troubleshoot Cardiovascular Management Information System

  • Proven interpersonal skills to successfully communicate with patients, staff and physicians and successful team building practices

  • Demonstrate leadership skills, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, conflict management and resolution and organization skills

  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and assist with the implementation of solutions

  • Interpret physician order and result documentation

  • Current advanced computer skills

  • Demonstrate ability to work with the Equipment Vendors  and Biomedical Engineers

  • Work co-operatively as part of a large team and independently

  • Positive advocate for professional body

  • Availability to work all shifts, including weekends, and ability for multi-site coverage when required

  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records

  • Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)

  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
