A new family physician, Dr. Andrew Jeffery, will soon be moving to the area thanks to the combined recruitment efforts of Grey Bruce Health Services, the Town of Saugeen Shores, the Town of Kincardine and Bruce Power.

Born and raised on Manitoulin Island, Dr. Jeffery is currently completing his Emergency Medicine Residency through Queens University, finishing at the end of June 2017. Dr. Jeffery has decided to start his career by practicing in the Southampton Emergency Room with the hopes of eventually setting up a part time family practice in the area.

“We are pleased that Dr. Jeffery has decided to return to this area to practice. His specialized training in Emergency Medicine will be an asset to our busy Emergency Department, and he will soon get to work in our Southampton Hospital’s brand new ER,” said Lance Thurston, President and CEO of Grey Bruce Health Services.

Dr. Jeffery completed his undergraduate education at the University of Waterloo, went on to medical school in Victoria at University of British Columbia, and is now completing his residency in family medicine with an additional year of emergency medicine training from Queens University.

“Dr. Jeffery will be a welcomed addition to the medical community in Saugeen Shores. We are very pleased to welcome him along with his partner Katy (physiotherapist) to our community,” said Town of Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Jeffery and Katy are avid outdoor enthusiasts, and hope to spend time in the area enjoying their passion for mountain biking, windsurfing and Nordic skiing. They will move to the area this summer, 2017.
