Call 911 immediately or go to the closest emergency department if you have one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Severe difficulty breathing (struggling for each breath, can only speak in single words)
  • Severe chest pain (constant tightness or crushing sensation)
  • Feeling confused or unsure of where you are
  • Losing consciousness

COVID-19 Testing 

GBHS has COVID-19 testing available at the Owen Sound Assessment Centre. The test is quick – it takes about 5 minutes to administer. 

You are eligible for COVID-19 testing if you:

  • are at risk of severe illness from COVID-19; or 
  • you live and/or work in high-risk settings, identified as:
    • Hospitals
    • Long-Term Care
    • Retirement homes
    • Congregate living settings

When coming for an appointment, do not arrive more than 5 minutes prior to your appointment to reduce congestion in the parking area, and bring your own mask. If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so using the confirmation e-mail you received at the time of booking.

Do you need an assessment for COVID-19 symptoms?

In addition to testing for COVID-19, some individuals will qualify for a clinical assessment. You can book a clinical assessment at the Owen Sound COVID-19 Assessment Centre if you know or suspect that you have COVID-19 and you meet the following requirements:

  • you have been directed by your primary care provider or other health care professional; or
  • you are unable to safely monitor your symptoms at home; or
  • you are at higher risk of severe illness, including:
    • immunocompromised individuals aged 18 and over regardless of vaccine status
    • unvaccinated individuals aged 60 and over
    • unvaccinated First Nation, Inuit and Métis individuals aged 50 and over
    • unvaccinated individuals aged 50 and over with one or more risk factors

You should bring a list of your medication and a list of any important medical conditions to your appointment for a clinical assessment.
