Grey Bruce Health Services has erected a temporary 75 bed Field Hospital at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Centre in Owen Sound. The Field Hospital was built to increase bed capacity to cope with a potential influx of patients requiring care for COVID-19. The facility was designed to be self-sufficient with equipment on-site for oxygen, suction, x-ray, lab testing and drug dispensing.

The Field Hospital will only be opened if patient capacity is exceeded at GBHS’s six hospitals and/or if the Ministry of Health instructs the corporation to open the facility. In the event that the Field Hospital is opened, staff and physicians who are on-site will have the appropriate training and specialized knowledge to provide care to patients until they are ready to go home.
