Position Precis:
Currently, several positions are available for primary care physicians in the area, particularly for those interested in providing care (ER/Inpatient/and/or Anesthesia) in the Meaford hospital.
The Meaford Hospital is part of Brightshores Health System which operates six hospitals. The level-2 referral centre is located in Owen Sound and includes a full range of specialists for consultations and state-of-the-art diagnostics including CT and MRI. Meaford has 15 beds for inpatient care, has high seasonal volumes in its Emergency Department and performs over 1,000 in-hospital procedures annually. This facility is a vital healthcare lifeline for residents and visitors to Meaford and the surrounding four-season recreational area.
Currently doctors work as a Family Health Organization (FHO); family physicians practice in their own offices in Meaford or at the Blue Mountains Community Health Centre in Thornbury and at the Don Bumstead & Family Medical Centre in Meaford.
The FHO provides 24/7 Emergency Department coverage, inpatient care, assists with in-hospital procedures and looks after two long-term care homes.
Qualifications:
CCFP
Eligible for or hold an independent licence to practice in Ontario.
Remuneration:
Blended capitation.
Underserviced area – eligibility for the NRRRI incentives through the Ministry of Health.
Date Available:
Immediately.

About the Family Medicine Department:
Each of Brightshores’ six hospitals has a family medicine department. There are independent, group and clinic models of practice across the corporation. In the rural hospitals, family physicians provide 24/7 emergency coverage and GP anesthesia in three hospitals. The urban hospital in Owen Sound includes a small number of family physicians who continue with emergency and obstetrics practices, in addition to their office practices and inpatient care.
