We have an immediate need to increase our physician complement to two full-time Neurologists as part of a vibrant community practice including daily consultations to the ER, in-patient and out-patient work.
As part of the South West LHIN Stroke Project, as of March 31, 2017, all strokes patients in Grey and Bruce counties will be treated at the Designated Stroke Centre in Owen Sound, including patients from Hanover and District Hospital and South Bruce Grey Health Centre hospitals. We serve a catchment of over 170,000 residents and more than 2 million short-stay visitors each year.
Total ER stroke cases have already increased 17% from last year and will continue to rise as more stroke patients are diverted to Owen Sound for care. The Stroke Prevention Clinic has seen a 31% rise in appointments over the past year and the wait list for out-patient referrals is now up to one year.
Presently, after-hours and weekend call is covered by the Internal Medicine group. There is an Intensivist supported 6-bed closed ICU, a strong Hospitalist program and a well-resourced 16-bed rehabilitation unit. The Stroke Unit is supported by a full interprofessional team (NP, OT, PT, SLP, SW, RD, CCAC care coordinator) that rounds daily. We are also a participating organization with the Provincial Telestroke program.
The hospital has office space available for rent.
Option for shared secretarial support.
Relocation support available.
Interested candidates must hold applicable FRCPC designation.
Independent license to practice in Ontario.
Interest and experience in stroke management an asset.
$300,000 to $350,000 (fee-for-service).
