Medical students at Western University travel all around Southwestern Ontario to gain clinical experience in a rural/regional setting. From May 23-27, 2016, the three of us (Kriti, Tina, and Magda) visited Wiarton and it completely changed our perspective on rural communities and rural medicine.

We met amazing doctors and patients who really showed us what it means to be a doctor. We gained first hand experience in various fields of medicine and learned how diverse medicine can be in various regions in Ontario. The physicians and community members opened their homes to us, showed us tremendous kindness, and gave us the experience of a lifetime. This has by far been our best week of medical school.

We will never forget our experiences here and hope to come back in the near future and contribute to the community at large here in Wiarton. See you soon Wiarton (and Willie)!
