Our Roots
Wiarton Hospital or the Red Cross Outpost as it was known in 1949, opened with ten beds. A Women’s Auxiliary was organized in December of that year with annual membership fees of fifty cents and their main responsibility being to maintain the Hospital linens.
Who We Are Today
In 2019, the Auxiliary is 45 active members who volunteer in the Wiarton Hospital; the Gift Shop; sell Nevada Tickets; entertain patients with music; provide Pet Therapy and host a variety of community events to ‘assist the Hospital in every way possible in the interests of providing the best patient care.’
