The Brightshores Cancer Centre provides a comprehensive range of services including:
- Assessment of individuals with cancer and malignant hematology (cancers of the blood and bone marrow)
- Treatment, including chemotherapy
- Follow up and management of complex symptoms
- Information and education regarding treatment of cancer and management of side effects
- Supportive care
Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team that includes three Medical Oncologists, Registered Oncology Nurses, a Nurse Practitioner, Oncology Pharmacists, Clinical Dietitian, Social Worker, and clerical staff. The team is supported by a dedicated group of hospital volunteers, laboratory, pharmacy and imaging staff and community partners.
The program also supports a twice monthly Radiation Oncology follow up clinic serviced by the Radiation Oncologists from the London Health Sciences Centre. Brightshores does not offer radiation therapy.
Cancer Surgery
The Owen Sound Hospital offers a full range of cancer surgery – breast, colorectal, prostate, lung and gynecological to name a few. Many patients from the Grey and Bruce area are not aware that quality cancer surgery is available, close to home. If you need cancer surgery, and you live in Grey Bruce, talk to your doctor about cancer surgery at Brightshores. Our team of surgeons, oncologists and oncology nurses are ready to help you get the care you need, without travelling far from home.
